Quiet... I'm Thinking

By Scott V. Black

I am lucky in what I do because I get to talk to many people. When I teach or train a class, I get to meet people at a deep level. When I am in the office on the phone putting “butts in chairs,” I talk with many people as well. The common message I get is that “life is hectic.” I have people that I chase around for months—sometimes years—to get them to schedule a 2.5 day class. You would think I am asking them to commit a month of their life. But that all changes once they go through Awakening, right… ? Right… ? I don’t think so!

Believe it or not, I sometimes have a hard time getting people to call me back after graduating from leadership Awakening. By the way, this is not because they didn’t like the class, or didn’t have a great experience. It is because they are soooo busy. Life is so busy that they don’t have time to return a phone call. I can show you examples of 5-7 messages left for some people over a month or two… and they are just soooo busy they couldn’t return a phone call. Now this article is not about disrespect…  I am sure that nobody reading this article would ever do that.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Today I want to talk about how life in general is busy. I also want to talk about how we can sometimes purposely make it so busy. We get something out of keeping life busy. Think about this, what do you gain...

========================================================
We're excited to offer you the opportunity to hold yourself even more accountable. One way to do this is by sharing your personal mission statement with your fellow graduates. Today begins a new regular feature for "Let the Journey Continue" in which you can read—and be inspired by—mission statements of your fellow Empower U Graduates.
========================================================

I, Jonathan Bloom, will live my life with Passion and Purpose!

I will be a Promise Keeper, not a wimpy promise maker.

I will Honor my commitments to God.

I will Win My Wife’s Heart each and every day.

I will Give My Family the Best of Me, not the left-overs.

I will be a Good Steward of our business, not a slave to my work.

I will be the man God has called me to be.

There will be no “Should A’s” when I’m done!

Why?

For 2 reasons:

  1. It helps you be more accountable when you share your mission statement with others.

  2. It inspires others to re-visit their mission statement more regularly.

In other words, it's a win-win situation for everyone. So step over the line to help yourself and help all of your fellow graduates by sending in your mission statement. Just click here to send it.
