Is That A New Picture?

By Scott V. Black

Hola Señors and Señorita’s. It is a great day to be alive!

I am writing this article south of the border in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico at the Westin Regina. I am enjoying some great time with my two oldest children Faith and Christian. Unfortunately, Major was not allowed to join us.

The view here at the hotel is a like a beautiful picture. The Westin is famous for their “living Picture window.” It is a large square that is framed through the architectural design. There is this great restaurant that allows you to look out of this “square” that frames this picture. The picture is the ocean and the coast. It is gorgeous and it is always changing. If you have ever seen any commercials for the Westin chain of hotels you have seen this picture.

As I look out the frame it reminds me of all the framing we do in our lives.

I love to collect art. As a matter of fact, God has been good to me and I have a few pieces of art in my house. I have purchased art and then had to put the frame on certain pieces. I remember when I was framing art that I would have a certain frame in mind and then someone else would come up with a different idea. I was amazed that when I changed the frame that I changed the picture.

That is what is so incredible about “re-framing.” If you have ever reframed a piece of art, then you know that when you change the frame you change the picture. A different frame can bring out different pieces of the art, thus the perspective changed. When you change what you see then you change the reality of what you are seeing. Your focus is different thus the picture is different.

For those that know me… you know I am not talking about art, am I? I am talking about our life and the frames we put around things. For me, I am in a major re-framing expedition in my life...

Forum Buzz... by Mindy Colvin

And The Winner Is...

Lisa Lloyd!!

That’s right, Lisa was the last person to post on the “Last person to post on this thread wins!” thread! (Did you get that?!) It’s sure fun to start a contest that has no stated prize…sure takes the pressure off! So now that we found a winner I needed to come up with a prize, and I’m so grateful to Jim Meurer for his help with that! Lisa, you are the proud winner, winner of…a chicken dinner!! Seemed appropriate enough!! Warning to you all…next time we have a contest on the forum, make sure you don’t offer too many “odd” prize ideas!! I’m liable to take you up on it!!

We sure are having fun on the Forum!! I’m looking for ideas for a new contest (nothing major, mind you!), we’re talking about forgiveness, change, and goals. It’s time to recap our June goals and post our July goals (I’ll admit it right here right now – I have certainly chosen to fail THIS process! Ugh!!) Perhaps my goal should be to do better at following through on my goals! I’ll think about that!

We just finished up a class in Sacramento June 28-30, and I had a truly enjoyable moment introducing “friends” face to face for the first time… Amy Taylor (AmyTay24) and Bill McGregor (Bill M) were both at the graduation, so I made sure they were now able to put a face with a post!! It was really fun to see them get so excited about actually meeting in person after they already felt like friends! That’s what we’re creating with the Forum – relationships. And those relationships provide support, encouragement, accountability, and very often, a lot of laughs! Especially if AmyTay is involved!!

So what are you waiting for?! At the risk of sending chills up and down your spine, let me just say… Ladies and Gentlemen, the TIME IS NOW!! Where else in your life are you watching things happen from the sidelines!! We’re having so much fun on the Forum, but it’ll be even more fun with more people on board! So quit waiting for someone else to do it for you!! Get in on the action!!

We’re looking forward to hearing from you!! See you at The Forum!!

P.S. - You can click here to go straight to the Empowered Teams Unite forum. To post you'll need to have an account on the forum. It's fr.ee - just click on the "Register" link near the top of any forum page.
