Goal Getting... What Do You Want?
By Scott V. Black
Hello Empower U Leadership Team. It is a Great Day to Be Alive. There are so
many exciting things happening in my life and the life of Empower U. My dreams
of becoming the company that “We could have Been” are clear and coming to life.
As I “Re-Start” visioning our HBS Corporate Retreat Center / Day Spa here in
Texas, and as I am getting back to Goal Getting Empower U into the future… the
intoxication of those dreams are delicious! (How about those gustatory
predicates…Can you smell it…can you taste it?) Since I always write about the things that are present in my life, I would like
to talk about Goal Getting…What do you want? I am getting clearer and clearer
about what I want. The time is Now, to continue putting the pieces in place that
will allow Empower U to thrive, and to DIS-continue the “Good Nuff” strategy of
surviving month to month. I am a gifted trainer and curriculum writer, however
as a business person…UP UNTIL NOW! If I worked for myself I would have fired me
years ago! By the grace of God, Empower U is still in existence even with a CEO
that has been preoccupied in some personal dilemmas that were self created. Now
that all that is fixed and He is back on course, there is a sense of urgency to
“Raise the Bar” for Empower U and become a positive force on a global scale! Part of the outcome of our training is that people leave with a new direction a
new excitement, a new passion for their personal and business life. Most people
come out of our training with commitment to make some “things” happen. People
know what they want, what is really important and they have some “goals” in
place to get there. We have our students ask and answer the three questions all
true leaders ask themselves...

six crucial elements that every goal needs to succeed -

Special Article on Teens...

Does Your Teen Need a New
Focus?
Do you recall how difficult your teenage years were
for you?
Folsom Psychotherapist, Kelly Robinson works with
teens every day. She knows first hand their struggles
and the new problems they face these days. And every
year, she endorses our class, Teen Awakening.
Why? Here are Kelly's own words as printed in her
weekly Teen Talk column for the Sacramento Bee
newspaper. This is from her July 13, 2007 column:
DEAR READERS: Every summer, I alert "Teen Talk"
readers to a weekend workshop for teenagers held in
Sacramento once a year. It is put on by Empower U, a
Dallas company that promotes communication,
leadership, motivation, self-awareness and
accountability.
The workshop is a challenging process that guides
teenagers to see their true potential and make goals
that will help in the future. This year's class will
be offered July 26-28. The workshop is not cheap,
but it is well worth it...
Thank you, Kelly, for those kind words.
As you see from Kelly's article, this class is
offered once a year. We do our best to make sure that
the teens who attend Teen Awakening discover a renewed
sense of purpose and focus as well as a clear vision for
their future. Imagine what you might have done if you'd
had these tools when you were a teenager...
July 26 is right around the corner. We still
have some spots available in the teen class. Give this
gift to help your teen know who they are... contact the
office at (775) 827-6901 or email by

to live your dreams up a notch by sharing your goals
with others. To help you do this we'd like you to send us a copy of your mission
statement. We'd also like your permission to include

Why?
For 2 reasons:
-
It helps you be more accountable
when you share your mission statement with
others.
-
It inspires others to re-visit
their mission statement more regularly.
In other words, it's a win-win
situation for everyone. So step over the line to help yourself and help all of
your fellow graduates by sending in your mission
statement.
