Are You Uncomfortable? Why Not?

By Scott V. Black

Hello Empower U Leadership Team. How are you doing today? Is it a great day to be alive?

I am getting closer to the Scott V. Black that I was put on this planet to be… Empower U’s classes are filling up and that means… LIVES ARE BEING CHANGED! Check out the schedule here. We now have our dates scheduled through the end of 2007 and into the New Year.

As I write this article, I just got back from Iowa. We had a great experience guiding Team 501 through Leadership Awakening. Mr. Upchurch, myself and two of my children, Faith and Christian, drove up to Iowa from Dallas. I conducted team 501’s Leadership Awakening and then we went to the Iowa State Fair.

The Parriotts and the Engelmans joined us as we ate deep fried Twinkies, Oreos and Snickers. On Sunday we went to church with the Engelmans and then we drove back to Texas. Before we knew it… it was 12 hours later and we were driving onto our property.

Even though I am glad I went to the fair, I was very uncomfortable on Saturday night...

Schedule Highlights

Adventure Calls...

Leadership Adventure starts where Leadership Awakening leaves off. It completes the second part of the Leadership Experience and amplifies your leadership skills by 4-5 times more than what you experienced in Leadership Awakening!

Hard to believe? Listen to this Adventure Graduate:

"Adventure certainly took things to a whole new level for me... I really "got" Awakening from taking Adventure... I like to tell people it was Anthony Robbins meets Survivor." ~ Eric Bradley, Adventure Team 136

There are only two open Adventure Dates through the end of this year. Have you grabbed your spot yet?

If not, contact us right away to schedule. Call the office at (775) 575-2298 or email by clicking here.

Disconnection

Have you ever found it to be easy for you to “accidentally” disconnect from people? Have you ever had a friend that you would talk to often, maybe daily, and then, little by little, you just drifted apart? I’ve been feeling that way lately, and I have only myself to blame! I’ve allowed myself to drift away from one of my favorite places on the Web – our Forum!

It’s been two weeks since I checked in. I asked everyone to post their August goals, then never posted mine! I guess I can do mid-month goals at this point! I’ve had “valid explanations” for my absence – I’ve been on the road a LOT this summer, and when I finally returned home I was met with one fried computer, one powerless wireless router, and lots of frustration! The past week has been a series of calamities and mishaps on my way to restoring some sense of techno-normalcy to our home. Here’s a lesson for you: don’t let teenagers use your computer! If they want on-line, make them get their own! That way, when they see a message that says “error loading operating system”, you can hug your own computer a little tighter and be ever-more grateful for firewalls and virus protection! But I digress…

The interesting thing about losing connections is that it becomes all too easy to just let the connection stay lost. It reminds me of cell phones – when your call gets dropped the third time, your desire to call back has significantly waned! So you decide to forget it because it’s just too much trouble. Conversation ended. Connection lost.

If you’ve been feeling that way about your Empower U “family”, I’m here to tell you to STOP!! While I know that the Forum has happily gone on without me, I also know that I’ll be welcomed back with open cyber-arms, as will anyone who decides to join any conversation at any time! You can’t drift too far away from this Team – we’re always here for you, and we’ll always enjoy your participation! As for me…I’ll be posting those goals very soon! That’s one of my FIRST goals!

Get connected! (Or maybe it’s RE-connected!!) We’ll see you at The Forum!

My Awakening, by George Boyko, Team 479

When I was informed that I needed to go to the "Leadership Awakening" training I thought to myself, "What can anyone possibly teach me that I don't already know?"

A former U.S. Army Ranger who also went through many years of management training seminars and classes, I learned a lot from the different philosophies and those considered to be the top leadership educators in the industry.

My colleagues, peers, and superiors that went before me kept telling me that I will enjoy it, just trust the process. I asked many questions and it was like breaking into Fort Knox. No one would say a word, which frustrated me even more. So I thought I would just do it and check off another box for company training.

As I progressed through the training things started to come together. I must say that this was one of the best training exercises that I went through since my grueling days in the military.

What I learned was what I had slowly lost through the past 30 years of my life. I found my strength, and how to tap into my energy again. I couldn't believe that I was able to do things some believe to be "SUPER NATURAL" that I took for granted in my earlier years.

Talk about walking on air. I was higher than a kite the day we graduated and to this day will never let that energy get away from me again. I am thankful to those that sent me and will keep an open mind when told to "TRUST THE PROCESS" - HEART, BODY, and SOUL.
