Words That Change: "Purpose"

Hello Empower U Leadership Team. It is a great day to be alive!

Wow, what a month, what an outstanding time. A time of change, a time of renaissance, a time to know who you are and what you are doing, a time to be committed to… Why you are here!

Today we want to talk about Purpose, in other words… why are you here? History is full of people who have made a difference, people who have lived their life with a purpose. What is your purpose? Why are you here? What is your Mission?

As the words to the song, “Want it. Create it. Live it.” say, when you don’t know where you are going then any road will take you there. Conversely when you know who you are and why you are here then the road narrows and the chance to lose your way is diminished. Benjamin Franklin said, "Would you live with ease? Do what you ought, not what you please."

Over the first half of the month of May I have practically been a resident of the great state of California. There is so much going on with Empower U and over the last two weeks it has taken place in California. We did a private EQ: Communicating w/Power class for Kraft foods, Team 529’s Leadership Awakening, our first 3% meeting in Sacramento…

I had the opportunity to impact many lives for the better. People learning about themselves to take control of the battle field of the mind, to become a bit better at who they are and what they are doing.

As General George Patton put it: “If you are going to win any battle, you have to do one thing; you have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do... the body is never tired if the mind is not tired.”

While I was in California I also taped the TV show, Voice of the Valley. I had a great time with Emmy, the host of the show. I met Emmy over a year ago doing some of my work with the PGA. Since we have met Emmy has had me on the show three times, and I always enjoy sharing space with her.

When the interview was over Emmy commented on how the time just flies when we do the show. It reminded me of the power of purpose!

What Keeps You Going?

My purpose keeps me going…how about you? When you know why you are here, then what to do will present itself. I think it was Shakespeare that said, Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em.”

We have all heard the saying, “Time flies when you are having fun.” Let me suggest that time also flies when you are living in your purpose.

A few years back there was a great book that took the world by storm. It was by Rick Warren called, “A Purpose Driven Life.” Rick went from a somewhat unknown preacher to a millionaire in a short period of time with his powerful book.

People want to know why they are here, they want to live a purpose driven life. As a leader, there is no greater gift to those that follow you then for you to show them how to live a “purpose-driven” life.

The Most Important Question

So I have a question for you…”Why are you here?” It has to be beyond yourself, something for the greater good. Rick Warren starts his great book by saying, “It’s not about you!”

One of the first questions Emmy asked me was…what do I do? In other words she wanted her viewers to know my purpose. I told her my purpose is to be a “passion-generator,” to stir people up emotionally so they can become emotionally involved with their life, their purpose.

I believe my purpose is to leave this world a better place then the one I found. At Empower U international we are committed to living our lives with purpose. We believe with all of our Hearts, Bodies and Souls that… When You Live Your Life Like it Matters- It Does!

People often ask how we can teach our training with such passion and unwavering belief; it is easy when you know why you are here!!! Orison Swett Marden said, “You must back up your ambition by your whole nature, by unbounded enthusiasm and a determination to win that knows no failure.”

Finding... and Living Your Purpose

Are you living your life with that type of determination? If the answer is yes, then you are probably living your purpose, if it is no, then you are probably not. We will all make mistakes, none of us are perfect. If you have your purpose in view then you can overcome obstacles and mistakes.

General George Patton also said, “Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom.” You can only do that when you know you are on the right path, when you have your purpose in your sights.

Think of the great leaders of the world. Whether you are talking about Patton, Abraham Lincoln, Jesus Christ, Martin Luther King, George Washington, look at the troubles they endured. Three of the aforementioned were killed, assassinated, crucified and yet they were willing to die for their purpose.

That is one of the things that people love about our training, they are so “on purpose,” it is exhilarating, intoxicating, delicious…the best word to describe it is… crusade. What is your crusade, what are you willing to lay it all on the line for?

That is the purpose of Empower U to help you find your crusade for your life. For some it is a better family, a better business a better relationship with God, to know that they lived their life with a noble cause!

Three Percent Club Update

One of the things I did in California was kick off our first graduate re-charge meeting. We had 15 committed individuals, out of over 4,000 local graduates. A bit less than 3%, but a group that will be 30 by the next meeting in June.

This is a great tool to help our graduates remember the passion they felt for the purpose they defined in Leadership Awakening. This will be a great tool for our California graduates to continue to build on what they learned and desired in our Awakening, Adventure and EQ: Communicating w\Power classes.

If you would like to be a part of the 3%, of critical mass so that you can make this world a bit better one person at a time… starting with yourself, then contact Empower U and we will give you information on the next meeting. We are working to help our graduates live the Chinese proverb "Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand" Get involved with fellow graduates.

The Essence of Purpose

When you know who you are and where you are going…that is the essence of purpose. You can commit with your Heart, Body and Soul…no armor on the back.

History is replete with examples of that truth. Look at how Jesus challenged the status quo. He was committed to His purpose, no matter what anybody else said or believed. John 8:14 says, “My testimony is valid because I know where I came from and where I am going!” Christ laid it all on the line and committed Heart, Body and Soul!

Ralph Waldo Emerson put it this way, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us.”

What are you doing that is making it matter that you are living in that body, at this time, for this season? What are you doing with this gift called life? How are you making it matter that you lived on this planet, at this time?

When you know why you are here, then what to do will present itself. I just have one question for you…What do you want? Actually I have another question for you…Why are you here?

“I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.” What Edward Everett Hale meant was…When you live your life like it matters…with purpose…It does!!

Renaissance Update

Vince Lombardi, in his last speech before his death, was addressing a large corporate audience. He said, "I'm going to share with you the key to success in any business." You could have heard a pin drop as they sat on the edges of their seats waiting for the answer.

He said, "The secret, in a word, is heart-power. Capture the heart; you've captured the person… Get people to fall in love with your company."

This is a very simple, powerful concept. But how does a leader to it? In my opinion, it starts and ends with caring about your people, not as employees, but as human beings.

For me personally, everyday in every way I am falling more in love with Empower U International … WHY?

Every class graduate has a renewed passion for breaking down walls and being a better person in all aspects of their lives… Personal and business … Every time another person staffs a class they rekindle the fire …Every time you nominate a new Starfish you help make a difference in this world … And help us as well.

The Renaissance has begun: Take something already GREAT already WONDERFUL already changing people’s lives and improve on it? YES! YES! YES!

With the growth and expansion taking place our company; your company, personnel are required for our new mission/vision at Empower U. What better place to start our search than with those dynamic individuals who are graduates.

We are looking for trainers, starfish catchers, sales agents, and assistant trainers, investors who want to either work with the Empower U team or contribute to this worthy cause.

Some people have more money than time… others have the time to be a trainer in training, yet others still may be interested in Part time Sales. At one point or another all of us feel lead to continue this journey in a manner most suited to our calling. Perhaps donate a class to someone in need !

Think about it, pray about it, and when you are lead in any way to be a part of our EmpowerU International Leadership Team, CALL ME!

From nominations, to staffing a class, or becoming a trainer we are ready for you. Perhaps someone with a securities license would like to make some extra commissions for bringing in stockholders for building out our corporate retreat and training center? The possibilities are endless and the dream is big for a good company like us to be a great contributor on an International scale.

Make an Even Bigger Difference

If you'd like to make a powerful difference in the world, we may have the opportunity for you. We're looking for people to fill two positions:

1. Enrollment Officer in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to help prospective students understand more about our classes by answering their questions and helping them enrolled in class. You'll learn a time-tested and highly effective sales process as well as work with motivated and empowered people helping make the world a better place one person at a time.
2. We're also looking for part-time trainers who will commit to one weekend a month in exchange for becoming a powerful trainer using our proprietary teaching techniques. You'll learn by doing in actual class situations and be part of making a powerful difference in the lives of those in class.

3% Club Update and Personal Invitation

On May 7th 15 committed individuals attended the first ever meeting of the 3% Club in Sacramento. Those who came agreed that it was a powerful experience.

As one of the 'perks' club members asked for, and received, an exclusive area on the Empower U forums where they can exchange information and support one another.

Making a Difference

My mother (who is a kindergarten teacher) brought home a book given to her by the principal. He gave a copy to each teacher to help teach kids how to love each other.

The book is called “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” by Carol McCloud. This book is FANTASTIC. It talks that everyone has an invisible bucket and all day either you fill their bucket with love, or you rob from it. The story is very touching, but even more so is the conversation that arises.

My daughter has a real sand pail bucket sitting on the counter now and every day we are writing down the things we did to fill someone else’s bucket or something someone did to fill our bucket.

She also knows that she will have to take those things out of her bucket if she robs from someone else’s bucket. It is just great and she is so involved and proud to be doing things that make other people feel good.

Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend this book. In fact there is a website due to the popularity of the story. Please visit www.bucketfillers101.com and see for yourself what it is all about. Kids of all ages (even adults) can benefit from this important message.
