Adventure Journal Entry #7

Good Afternoon Team 297- LIVE IT!

I just finished a process that was a turning point in my battle with the "twins" fear of failure and fear of rejection.

My TEAM provided some very interesting and amusing reflections during this process. It was also an enlightening process to see just how damaging and harmful powerless words could be. Imagine if you will, a boat without a rudder. How difficult would it be to arrive at my destination without that vital piece of equipment? Now suppose I had a rudder but closed my eyes to where I was headed. Not much of a difference I think. Such is the way of powerless words. They give no direction, VISION, or PURPOSE to what I am striving for. Hence, I choose to put them out of my life forever!

Such is the way of powerless words. They give no direction, VISION, or PURPOSE to what I am striving for. Hence, I choose to put them out of my life forever!

Now, after a bit of frivolity it was on to another process. Again, since I had seen this process previously, I had an idea of how to complete it. Scott asked that if anyone had seen it before to not say anything about how to solve it. I knew he was speaking to me and initially I thought, "Okay, another opportunity to be an active follower."

After about what seemed like an hour and the "leader" we chose for this process had the consequences of his choice of using powerless words imposed, I had had enough. The problem was that I remembered only the initial part of the solution. So I told my TEAM how to get started but that I could not remember how to solve it.

Seeing my TEAM deteriorate from a lack of COMMUNICATION, COMMITMENT, CLEAR VISION, and CONSENSUS was painful. The whole energy of the TEAM was at a low point. Georgine had some good ideas and I told her to speak up to the TEAM. It was her opportunity to be an active follower but her suggestions fell on deaf ears as those that were involved closed off any input from those of us on the other side.

I knew that giving what information I had had done two things:

  1. It violated the trust of Scott in that he asked me, not directly but clear enough, not to say anything.
  2. It only got us part way through the process and so tantalizingly close to completing the process.

The hard part, the part I had given, was known and the easy part was never realized. Where else in my life do I have all the information right in front of me, yet because of my "filters" that I see the world through, is the answer not seen.

But in the end, it did not matter what I had said. The hard part, the part I had given, was known and the easy part was never realized. Where else in my life do I have all the information right in front of me, yet because of my "filters" that I see the world through, is the answer not seen.

Anyone ever heard of the concept of "Being aware of how unaware I am?" This was it.

This process helped me move forward in this area and made me more aware of the powerlessness of the "twins."

Unfortunately, the next process would require much more awareness and power...
