Our graduates keep making a difference in the lives of others in their families and communities.

We have some very dear friends here in Austin who we go to church with. They have a beautiful 2 year old daughter and Vickie was pregnant with their second. She and I have become extremely close in 2002. She miscarried late Thursday night. Since we both were in Dallas all weekend we did not know until last night. I was so touched by her email (which is a poem) that I want to share it with you all. She sent this email to all in our church.

Sometimes when things happen we wonder why.
But yet we just cannot help but cry and cry.
I have some news that's not so good.
Our baby did not survive like we thought it would.
I'm not trying to be cutesy by writing this poem.
It's just the only way I can tell you now without another crying storm.
When miscarriages happen, that's a part of God's plan.
But still doesn't ease the pain at hand.
We still have to explain to our precious Madison.
In time, our hearts will heal and life will go on.
For those of you that have been through a miscarriage before,
My heart now goes out to you more and more.

God bless you all and please give your children a big hug for me! Take care.

I knew what I was going to do. I showed up at her front door at 10am unannounced. When she opened the door, I said, "I'm here to nurture you". We cried together and she talked for more than an hour without me having to say a word. She just wanted me to listen, and that's exactly what I did, looking at her for the first time. I loved every minute of it.
