Executive Synergy Group

An Executive Synergy Group (ESG) is a gathering of executives from different non-competing organizations who come together for the purpose of discussing their hottest issues and most critical problems. An Empower U facilitator will coordinate, guide and coach-when needed- to get maximum results. This opportunity to build alliances and synergize the experiences and intellect of each Group member will yield personal and professional gains that will be immeasurable. The gained insight and counsel from each member will help build incredible friendships and networks.

  • Topics discussed will be the "tough issues and problems" that keep the executive members awake at night. Helpful suggestions regarding how each issue may be tackled or each problem resolved are offered by fellow executives and/or the facilitator
  • Each member forwards (prior to the meeting) topics and ideas s/he wishes to be discussed in the ESG meeting
  • Each member pays Empower U annual "dues" and commits to attend all meetings. The dues pays for making all of the arrangements, creating the agenda, facilitating the meetings, acting as the meeting recorder, and both following up and being the catalyst to precipitate action items
  • Each ESG should have no more than 12 members
  • Each member must be a "senior member of management" within his/her organization
  • Members would be assigned to an ESG where there would be other members at similar organizational levels
  • There should be no more than one person from the same organization in attendance at any one of the ESGs
  • No members attending a given ESG should be affiliated with an organization that competes with another member-organization
  • Meetings should be held quarterly to start. It may make sense to make the meetings bi-monthly, depending on the agreement of the ESG membership
  • The duration of each quarterly ESG session should be about two days. This should be sufficient time for several members to describe their most important issue or problem and have them "worked on" by the group
  • The location for each ESG could be decided either on a quarterly basis, or it could be pre-determined in the beginning of each year
  • The content of each ESG meeting will be kept confidential by the members and facilitator
  • The roles of the facilitator include:
    • Accepting ideas for agenda items and finalizing the agenda
    • Keeping records on meetings and accountability
    • Making arrangements for the meeting location
    • Maintaining regular contact with each member and encouraging members to maintain contact among themselves
    • Facilitating the meeting and issuing announcements about meetings and any other information
    • Maintaining the pace of the meeting and keeping track of time
    • Acting as a "gatekeeper" to make sure all members participate
    • Keeping track of, and encouraging action, ownership and follow-up as appropriate
    • Coaching and counseling the members between meetings as the needs arise
