What happens when the sun goes down,
when darkness spreads her blanket round?
What happens when we go to sleep?
What goes on in the night so deep?
When the black cloak covers all the earth,
what happens in the womb before birth?
Things look different in the dark
It's hard to tell good and bad apart.
The joy of day and bright sun light
everything changes in the dead of night.
The sick get sicker, our fears grow strong
From dust to dawn can be so long
for the lonely heart or the troubled one
as they wait sleeplessly for the new day sun.
NO birds sing, it's a quiet place
not many linger in the darkest space.
The streets are empty in the pale moonlight
And what we see isn't always right.
The bad get badder, even in the safest home
we can feel scared, lost or alone.
Darkness is blinding and the quiet is loud.
As the day lies beneath the black shroud.
Do you wonder if it can stay this way?
Even in the bright sun of day?
For some it's like this all the time
Open your eyes and grab hold of the vine.
This is the life-line to everlasting light
that brightens the heart even in the dark of night
Black turns to white and amazing display
of transformation from damning night to forever day.
And as with a newborn fresh from the womb
We are released from our nighttime tomb
and dipped in the son-light, we begin anew
reborn and redeemed to a brand new you.
Forgiveness is waiting it's yours to behold
The price has been paid not with silver or gold
but with a life, one who did nothing bad
Think of the love for you this man had.
He paid it so freely, this man from above
He paid it for you to show you His love.
